A thought

I have a theory, maybe it's more of a belief, that any woman's life can be told as a feminist story. That all of our lives are profoundly shaped by growing up in a society that hates us. More than that - I believe there's a real power in the stories of how individual women's lives have been bent and broken by this world, and the different ways of responding to that. I think the specifics of one woman's life can resonate as deeply, or deeper, than generalisations.

PS Will return to scheduled Angela Davis report tomorrow

I agree. Just thinking about my own life, a significant part of who I am (or who I see myself as) has been shaped by the way I was viewed by my father.

I don't know if it's just me, but isn't that a profoundly negative view of the world that you have? I've known a number of women who are happy, successful and well-adjusted and don't at all seem to think that society hates them. Perhaps there might be some value in seeking out other women like that and reflecting on their stories as well. Just a thought.

  3. I don't think society hates me because I am a woman... I just don't see that.

I am sad to think that you do. Why such a negative world view?
