Overheard in an Otaki pub

My Mum called me last night, she'd been watching the rugby and she thought I'd be interested in a conversation she'd overheard:

"I reckon he's guilty"

"They're all guilty the whole pack of them."

"They say she's lying, but we know what went on. Why would she lie? Why would she put herself through that?"

The men must have been in their sixties - they didn't look like they'd had an easy life.

It's moments like these-in spite of how rare they are-that make me want to fight for humanity. Thank you for sharing this.

  2. I have to say, whenever I've heard people discussing any of these (now multiple) rape cases no one has indicated they think the guys aren't guilty. Which is possibly a reflection on the people I tend to talk to, but also heartening.
